LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday to review progress on Khadam-e-Punjab Ujala Programme expressed an aim at converting schools on solar power.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister said mega programme had been made to convert 20,000 schools of the province on solar power and that was the first programme of its kind in Pakistan.
He said under the programme, more 15,000 schools of South Punjab would be provided solar power through panels.
Shehbaz Sharif said this was the splendid programme with regard to provision of facilities for equipping children with education and it would have to be forwarded at fast speed.
He said all out resources would be provided to educate the youth.
The chief mMinister was informed during briefing that work of survey of schools for implementing this programme had
been completed.
Punjab Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed, Provincial Minister Ayesha Ghaus Pasha, Adviser Dr Umer Saif, Chief Secretary, Chairman P&D and concerning officials were also present.
