Afghanistan asked to hand over 76 terrorists: ISPR

KARACHI: The action came a day after a deadly suicide attack killed more than 70 people and injured 300 at the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan city of Sindh.

imageKARACHI: Pakistan military said on Friday that it has given Afghanistan a list of 76 terrorists who should be immediately handed over.

The action came a day after a deadly suicide attack killed more than 70 people and injured over 250 at the shrine of Sufi saint Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan city of Sindh.

According to latest media reports, following the recent wave of terrorism this week, law enforcement agencies have launched a nationwide security crackdown.

According to ISPR, the Army Chief said "we will defend the motherland and respond befittingly to these conspiracies." The Army Chief appealed to the nation to stay calm.

Earlier, DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said in a tweet that Pakistan-Afghanistan border has been closed with immediate effect until further orders due to security reasons.

A bomb blast occurred at the crowded Sufi shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar at Sehwan Sharif on Thursday, with media reports reporting that at least 76 people were killed and over 250 injured in the latest wave of bombings this week.

A large number of people from different parts of the province were gathered at the shrine when the blast took place.
