All life that exists on earth has a primal code that remains unchanged, a DNA code constituent of four letter, namely G,T,C and A, they are molecules that end pairing in the DNA helix creating life, all of it as we know it.
In what could be called a giant leap in science specifically biotech? comes at the expense of scientists in the US who have essentially created new life unlike any in nature in their own labs. By programming ordinary E-Coli micro-organisms to carry additional genetic material that they made ergo in essence controlling how to they come to be, operate and function; thus, creating entirely new life forms.
The aim here is to giving birth to ultimately bugs that create proteins not found in nature, which can then be cultivated and turned into drugs to treat various ailments but at the same time also giving birth to a whole new generation of DNA splicing and materials [enhancing human life].
According to a report posted yesterday, the scientists over at the Scripps Research Institute in California describe their lab-created life the microbes/ micro-organisms as organisms with wholly unnatural attributes and traits not found elsewhere in nature. With cells possessing a stable form of semi-synthetic life laying the foundations for achieving the central goal of synthetic biology: the creation of new life forms and functions.
The Head of the research team, Floyd Romesberg and his team had expanded the genetic code from four to six letters by adding two new molecules in the genetic makeup of the bugs in the microbes. Then the microbes were modified to consume the alien genetic material created by the team and fed to the cells resulting in the protein-product to be harvested.
Essentially, giving these life forms what many humans often found themselves in a dire need of a purpose.
