imageEid ul-Fitr is celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Muslims around the world. People decorate their homes and interestingly prepare sumptuous meals for family and friends for Eid ul-Fitr. Though, Eid ul-Fitr is also known as ‘Meethi Eid’ which is all about traditional desserts. It is a tradition which is followed by majority of the people to exchange sweets as a gift with their loved ones or relatives and serve traditional desserts to the guests on Eid day; it adds color and charm to the festival.

As another Eid is approaching, few days are left to commend the celebrations. Sweet shops, bread kitchens in the nation are getting a charge out of the Eid season as the surge of clients asking for their most loved treats for Eid ul-Fitr. On the other hand as Eid preparations reaching almost at climax, the sweet sellers have started waiting for the festivity with an expectation to earn huge business through selling traditional sweets.

According to shopkeepers, business has boomed by 100 to 200 percent with citizens buying large quantities of sweets for celebrations at home and as gift for others. They said that sales became stagnant during Ramadan but have gone up as Eid approaches.

Malik Amir, a restaurant owner who supplies homemade sweets to small stores said, “Citizens celebrate Eid ul-Fitr by preparing a variety of desserts but the tradition of making them at home is fast diminishing. People these days prefer to buy from reputed shops,” local media reported.

Hence, Eid gives best opportunity to the sweet sellers to earn good business, as the sale of different varieties of sweets multiplies when people start exchanging sweets with greetings.
