LISBON: Portugal's Finance Minister Vitor Gaspar ruled out on Tuesday that a tax on bank deposits similar to the one proposed for Cyprus could be applied in Portugal or any other euro zone country.
"This solution reflects the specific situation in Cyprus.
In Portugal, a measure involving special contributions on deposits is totally of out of the question.
The same can be said about all other countries in the euro zone," Gaspar told a parliament committee.
