TOKYO: Tokyo stocks closed 0.83 percent lower on Monday, with the Nikkei 225 giving up early gains as profit-taking kicked in after the benchmark index hit its highest level since the 2011 quake-tsunami disaster.
The Nikkei closed 89.10 points down at 10,599.01, as the yen gained in forex trade, while the Topix index of all first-section shares also lost 0.84 percent, or 7.45 points, at 881.06.
