trade-fairWASHINGTON: In a first of its kind trade expo and cultural festival, Pakistani and American entrepreneurs will showcase their business products in Washington from April 5 to 8, 2013 and explore exciting new opportunities awaiting the two longtime trading partners.

The mega mix of business and culture named "Pakistan Trade Expo and Festival 2013," will feature exhibitions of wide-ranging products as well as music entertainment to lend creativity to doing bilateral business and honor the entrepreneurial spirit of both nations.

Organizers Global Village Chamber of Commerce and Invision Media Group LLC, say the festive business event will have representation of leading business and commerce sectors of Pakistan.

The expo festival will be a celebration of the spirit "Trade Not Aid" motto in US-Pakistan relations, as pledged by the top leaders of the two countries, which saw their bilateral trade swell to around $ six billion in 2011, a statement said Saturday.

"The four-day extravaganza of food, music and business will provide a grand and unique opportunity for business leaders from both countries to meet, discuss and create new avenues for each other," says Nasimuddin Mirza, a leading businessman and Chairman organizing committee.

Mirza says the organizers expect a huge number of local visitors and hundreds coming from Pakistan for the event.

On display will be products by around 200 exhibitors from both countries. A concert will feature star Pakistan and American performers with entertainment running from 4 pm to- 10 pm each day.

Organizers say the exhibitors will benefit from the opportunity by introducing products ranging from textile garments, bed linen, cotton cloth, yarn, knitwear, towels, raw cotton and yarn, silk and synthetic textile, handicrafts, rice, wheat, food products, fruits and vegetables, fisheries, leather products, sporting goods, chemicals, carpets, surgical and dental instruments, petroleum products, marble and granite, IT software and services, jewelry, housing and construction, Pakistan tourism, overseas Pakistan foundation.

The event also opens a new vista for companies, large and small, to use it as a befitting platform for advertising their services and products, the organizers say.
