popeZAGREB: Pope Benedict XVI arrived Saturday in staunchly Catholic Croatia for a two-day visit aimed at reaffirming Europe's Christian values, an AFP correspondent reported.

Croatia, where 88 percent of the population of 4.4 million are Roman Catholics, also sees the visit as a sign of the Vatican's support for its entry into the European Union, a process that has entered its final phase.
