Pakistan’s record setting batsman Babar Azam has been inducted in the Test squad, as Pakistan eye another whitewash, after clean sweeping T20’s and One Day International (ODI) series, against West Indies.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq announced Pakistan Test squad for the three match series in a media briefing on Saturday. Azam made into the Test squad after hitting three consecutive centuries in the ODI’s against the West Indies.
Whereas, opener Muhammad Hafeez, and Shan Masood were dropped from the squad. As expected, Younis Khan will not participate in the match, as he is still recovering from Dengue fever.
Hafeez was dropped due to unsatisfactory performance, said Inzamam. However, “doors of cricket are always open for those who perform,” added Inzamam.
The squad comprises of captain Misbah -ul Haq, opener Sami Aslam, Azhar Ali, Asad Shafiq, wicket keeper Sarfraz Ahmed. Aforementioned Babar Azam and Muhammad Nawaz have been into the team squad.
Leg Spinner Yasir Shah, pacer Muhammad Amir, Sohail Khan, Imran Khan and Zulfiqar Babar would make up Pakistan’s bowling department. Wahab Riaz and Rahat Ali are part of the squad.
