imageISLAMABAD: Former Test cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz while hailing reports regarding the revival of Indo-Pak bilateral series this year said both the governments should also play their part in materialising the series.

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman, Shaharyar Khan while speaking in Kolkata, after meeting with BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya had said that Pakistan will play a full series with India comprising three Tests, five ODIs and two T20 internationals in the UAE in December.

As per the MOU there will be five series between the two countries in next eight years.

Talking to APP, Sarfraz Nawaz said both the countries' governments should pay special attention for the revival of Indo-Pak series.

"I appeal Indian Prime Minister to pay his kind attention in the revival of the Indo-Pak series as it is the dire need of the subcontinent," he said.

Sarfraz said our government should also play their role in making this series happen.

"The Indo-Pak series should be given a name like the Ashes series as it is no less than it," he said adding cricket series especially the Indo-Pak one is a great source of income and it would result in the betterment of the economy of both the countries.

Speaking about the performance of the national team against Bangladesh, he said the determination and willpower to win lacked in the green-shirts.

"It is hard to understand where the game plan was, whether it was with the players or the coaches," he said.

Sarfraz advised the PCB to allot new coaches with the team rather than making changes in the team. "I feel new coaches can help in improving the team," he said adding we have given the current coaches much time but our team hasn't got better.

Sarfraz said youngsters should be groomed and given a chance in the team.

"The Twenty-20 World Cup is next year and we should start its preparations right now," he said.

Sarfraz also backed the Zimbabwe's tour to Pakistan, saying it will prove successful and help in reviving international cricket in the country.

"I feel many other teams would be interested in visiting Pakistan after this tour," he said.
