imageHARARE: Michael Clarke was forced out of Australia's tri-series opener against Zimbabwe with a hamstring injury on Monday, but there was still no room for Phillip Hughes in the Australian side.

George Bailey stepped in to captain Australia in Clarke's absence, but with Brad Haddin shifted up to open the batting and Mitchell Marsh picked at three, Hughes was left to perform 12th man duties.

Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura won the toss and elected to field in the first game of a seven-match tri-series that also involves South Africa.

Brendan Taylor returned to the side after he was controversially dropped for the final game of a three-match series against South Africa last week, which was won 3-0 by the Proteas.

Seamer Tendai Chatara also returned to the side after being rested during that series, while opening batsman Tino Mawoyo was selected for his first ODI since last February.

Teams:

Zimbabwe: Tino Mawoyo, Sikandar Raza Butt, Hamilton Masakadza, Brendan Taylor, Sean Williams, Elton Chigumbura (capt), Richmond Mutumbami, Prosper Utseya, John Nyumbu, Tendai Chatara, Tinashe Panyangara.

Australia: Aaron Finch, Brad Haddin, Mitchell Marsh, George Bailey, Glenn Maxwell, Steve Smith, James Faulkner, Mitchell Johnson, Mitchell Starc, Kane Richardson, Nathan Lyon.
