imageISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman on Wednesday said that Returning Officers (ROs), who appeared before General Election Enquiry Commission (GEIC) to record their testimonies, categorically rejected the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief's allegation that they were part of the widespread systematic rigging in 2013 general election.

The GEIC summoned ROs of 11 National Assembly constituencies on the request of PTI and all five ROs who recorded their statements today informed the Commission that that they submitted their requirements for ballot papers keeping in view the number of registered voters in their respective constituencies, Anusha Rehman said while talking to reporters outside Supreme Court.

She said that the ROs also rejected another claim of PTI chief that extra ballot papers were printed for rigging purposes by saying that they demanded ballot papers keeping in view the number of polling stations, polling booths and polling schemes and to roundup ballot papers.

She said that ROs submitted all extra papers to the treasury through District Returning Officers.

Anusha Rehman said that PTI chief is unable to understand the election process and mechanism. She said that if Imran Khan is right in his stance, then he should appear before the inquiry commission as witness and repeat all allegations which he repeatedly stated during sit-ins.

The PTI government held local bodies' election in the Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa province while the caretaker governments held general election in 2013, she said and demanded PTI chief to remove his provincial government ministers who were involved in rigging and inquiry should be initiated against these people.

Another PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry said that it seems former President Asif Ali Zardari had been worried since the arrest of a model at an airport.

The PML-N leader spoke of Zardari's criticism of the military and said such statements at a time when one year of operation Zarb-e-Azb has been completed, were unacceptable. "These statements have been condemned by everyone."

He said that democracy was being blamed due to the PPP governance in Sindh.
