imageISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Education and Professional Training Engineer Muhammad Baligh ur Rehman Tuesday stressed the importance of aid and grant for financing education in Pakistan.

The minister of state said this while attending the Seoul financing for sustainable development forum, at Seoul, said a message received here from South Korea.

He said Pakistan needed global support at this critical juncture to continue the positive changes brought about by the current government.

The minister presented country-specific point of view on education with reference to Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan has had a tumultuous political history and had only the first transition from a democratic government to another, which reflects the upward trajectory of the country.

He shed light on the fact that Pakistan had tax to GDP ratio of 13.5 in 1999 which has now fallen to 9 pc of the GDP in 2014.

Despite this decrease, accounting education budget of 2 per cent, it may be notwd that this reflects more than 20 per cent of receivebales from the tax, he added.

Similarly he presented many positive outlook indicators for Pakistan and highlighted that the governments's irresponsibility should not be made a cost that the public has to pay, and donors must make education a universal provision for all.
