imageLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif Monday said a state-of-the-art Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute would be set up in the provincial metropolis and an autonomous board of governors had been constituted for this purpose.

Presiding over a meeting to review the progress on the project of kidney and liver institute, here, he said that completion of the project would result in provision of modern treatment facilities for kidney and liver diseases.

The Chief Minister said fifty acres land had been allocated for this purpose and its demarcation had been completed, adding that a nursing school and a research centre would also be established in the institute.

He said the Punjab government was taking practical measures for the provision of modern treatment facilities to the masses and all possible steps were being taken for this purpose.

Shahbaz Sharif said the project of Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute would prove to be a milestone in public health sector, adding that the hospital to be set up in the institute would have a capacity of 750 beds.

The Chief Minister said free treatment facilities would be provided to the poor and destitute patients in the Pakistan Kidney, Liver Transplant and Research Centre to be set up in Knowledge Park Lahore.

He said that latest treatment facilities would become available to the patients under one roof with the construction of the institute. He directed that a spirit of commitment and hard work should be displayed for the early completion of this public-welfare project.

President Board of Governors of the institute Dr Saeed Akhtar assured that every effort would be made for the speedy and quality completion of the project.

Members of the board Dr Masooma Saeed, Sheikh Amin, Waseem Afzal, Senior Member Board of Revenue, Chairman Planning & Development, Secretary Health, Secretary Finance and other concerned officials were present on the occasion.
