KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain telephoned the family members of famous ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, widely acclaimed Urdu poet Shabbir Hassan Khan Josh and Fauzia Wahab on their being conferred the Hilal-i-Imtiaz.
Talking to Farrukh Jamal, grandson of Josh, Altaf Hussain said that Josh was our national asset, and it was good that his services were recognized and he was awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, said a statement issued by the MQM on Thursday.
Farrukh Jamal thanked Altaf Hussain for remember his grandfather and said that he was a true admirer of Josh.
Talking to Asif Mehdi, son of ghazal singer Mehdi Hassan, Altaf Hussain said that although Mehdi Hassan was no more with us physically yet his voice would always live with us.
Altaf Hussain also telephoned Barrister Murtaza Wahab, son of Fauzia Wahab, and congratulated him on the conferring of the Hilal-i-Imtiaz on his mother.
He said that the services of Wahab for democracy would always be remembered.
