KARACHI: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan, has extended a grant of Rs. 120 million for the Arts Council of Pakistan, Karachi.
This was stated by president of Arts Council Karachi, Ahmed Shah.
Talking to reporters on Thursday he said that the money would be utilized for five-story new block being constructed at the Arts Council.
Ahmed Shah said that the new block will have a 300-seat auditorium, audio visual library and studio, academies of music and theatre.
He said that later on we will seek upgradation of the Council's Art School as the art university.
A two-story underground parking area would also be constructed at the Arts Council.
Ahmed Shah said there will be renovation of the Z.A. Bukhari Open Art Theatre.
It was also pointed out that the annual grant of Arts Council Karachi has been enhanced from Rs. five million to Rs. 17 million.
Vice-President of Arts Council, Mahmood Ahmed Khan, Secretary, Prof. Aijaz Ahmed Farooqui, Joint Secretary, Amin Yousuf, were also present on the occasion.
They thanked the Sindh governor for grant of Rs. 120 million and the Government of sindh for enhancing the annual grant to Rs. 17 million from Rs. five million.
