KHANPUR: Rotary Interantional's Pakistan Polio committee member Mumtaz Baig Tuesday said that the society and parents in general to vaccinate all childern of vulnerable age group ie less than 5 years during the oncoming three-day polio compaign from November 10.
While talking to journalists on Tuesday he said that in Pakistan this year as many as 15 polio cases were reported from KPK,11 from FATA, 5 from Sindh,6 from Balochistan and one from Punjab. "Thus a total of 38 cases have been reported during the current year whereas 209 polio cases were reported last year",he said.
Ten Asian countries,including Bangladesh,India and Srilanka,with collective population of 1.8 billion were declared polio free last year,said Rotary Interantional's Pakistan Polio committee member Mumtaz Baig.
"As long as even one polio case is reported anywhere in the world the virus could spread once again",he explained.
