imageKARACHI: Chief of Jamaat- e- Islami (JI), Pakistan, Siraj ul Haq has urged women belonging to NA- 246 constituency to come out in large numbers and exercise their right of vote during forthcoming by-elections to NA 246 on April 23.

Addressing an electioneering meeting on Shahrah- e- Pakistan for women workers of JI here on Friday he said Karachiites were being provided an opportunity to restore the lost glory of the metropolis known for its enlightenment and hence all must play their due role for the cause.

He maintained that JI strongly believed in women empowerment in its truest sense and also supported their right to play an active role in socio-economic and political development of the country.

"In-fact we not only want their active participation in politics but to facilitate them in their endeavour also support their right to flexible working hours besides adequate transportation facilities and associated concessions," said JI - Pakistan chief.

He on the occasion said JI would recommend Election Commission to ensure that candidates contesting at different levels must be adequately screened and those failing to give share in property to their sisters, daughters and other entitled women relatives must not be allowed to present themselves as public representatives.

JI wants to establish writ of law and fool proof security across the country enabling people to travel without any sense of fear, he said expressing his satisfaction that people of Karachi have finally come forward to get rid of violence and culture of intolerance.

Party candidate from the constituency, Rashid Nasim said he as an individual can not change the systen but once elected would raise his voice against quota system in Sindh on the floor of house as he believed it had divided the inhabitants of the province.

"I would particularly struggle to see that quota system may not be practised in scientific research centres," he said.

Women participants of the meeting demanded presence of rangers on all polling booths, installation of close circuit video cameras on each of these besides installation bio-metric and fool arrangements ensuring that no outsider is allowed access to the polling centres in the constituency.

The meeting was also addressed by Nazim (chief) of JI - Sindh, Mairaj ul Huda Siddiqui and party chief for Karachi, Naim ur Rehman.
