HYDERABAD: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has said that law and order situation in Karachi has witnessed an improvement due to the ongoing targeted action against criminals and terrorists.
Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, he said that there has been around 60 to 65 per cent decline in crimes, including incidents of terrorism and kidnapping, in the metropolis, which has boosted public confidence.
He said that people are increasingly coming forward to get complaints lodged against criminal activities, as witnesses are being provided protection. He added that such steps have helped control crime rate in the city.
The Chief Minister said that Hyderabad would also be freed from crimes as efforts are under way in this regard.
Qaim Ali Shah said that a public meeting will be held on October 18 in Karachi where slain PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto had led a rally. "PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would address the gathering from the same point where the people had sacrificed their lives for democracy," he added.
The Chief Minister said that the PPP-led government has worked for the welfare of the people of the province as over 200,000 jobs were given on merit.
He said the PPP also empowered women through BISP programmes and other initiatives in the country.
The Chief Minister said that the government is making all out efforts to resolve the issues of Hyderabad.
