ISLAMABAD: A spokesman of World Food Programme (WFP) Amjad Jamal on Wednesday said that 46,000 metric tons of food items have been distributed among IDPs, RAdio Pakistan reports.
He said the World Food Programme is regularly distributing food assistance among IDPs families in Bannu and D.I.Khan. WFP is making utmost efforts to mitigate sufferings of the IDPs, he added.
Director FATA Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) Farman Khilji also said that four thousand and ninety families comprising twenty-five thousand one hundred and eight individuals were registered as fresh Internally Displaced Persons from North Waziristan Agency.
These IDPs were registered in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak and Dera Ismail Khan. The total number of IDPs has now become nine lac eighty-one thousand one, he added.
He said the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has deputed seventy- four doctors and para-medics in camps established for IDPs from North Waziristan Agency. Provincial Health Department, twenty-eight doctors and para-medics are working in Bannu and twenty three each in Dera Ismail Khan and Lakki Marwat, he added.
The doctors besides medical check-up are also providing free medicines to the patients, he said. Ten ambulances have also been arranged to shift serious patients to hospitals, he added.
