imageISLAMABAD: Services trade deficit during first four month (July-October) of current fiscal year 2014-15 witnessed a sharp decrease of 26.56 percent as services exports jumped by 25.84 percent while imports witnessed an increase of 6.96 percent.

According to break up figures, the exports of services from the country during July-October 2014-15 were recorded at $2.091 billion against the exports of $1.661 billion recorded during same period of last year.

On the other hand, the imports into the country during the period under review were recorded at $2.778 billion against the imports of $2.597 billion during the corresponding period of last year.

On month of month basis, the services trade deficit however, surged by 304.31 percent in October 2014 when compared to the deficit of September 2014, according to the latest data of Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

Based on the figures, the trade deficit during October 2014 was recorded at $223.5 million against the deficit of $55.28 million in September 2014.

On year on year basis, ,the services trade deficit also increased by 430 percent by increasing from $42.16 million in October 2013 to $223.5 million in October 2014.
