KARACHI: Sindh Government has succeeded in getting another foreign investment of more than one billion US dollar for its first sponsored Wind Power Project at Jhampeer Wind Corridor district, having capacity to generate 650 MW electricity and provide job opportunities to more than 1000 people of the area.
The Chief Minister considering it as a positive indicator for foreign investment in the power generation sector, said that the day was not far away when we will become self sufficient in power generation and get rid off load-shedding.
This he said while talking to a delegation of NBT Wind Power Company.
The delegation led by CEO of the company in Pakistan Lieutenant General (Rtd) Hamid Rab Nawaz called on him on Wednesday.
The representatives from banks and insurance companies of China who agreed to finance the project were also present on the occasion.
The CEO talking on the occasion said that the more than one billion US dollar fund has been arranged from the consortium of banks from China for upcoming wind power project being executed in the Jhampeer Wind Corridor. The project would be completed by the year 2016.
He said that all the preliminary studies, like wind data, environmental protection report and technical studies have been carried out in this regard.
He informed that his company is in the process of obtaining tariff and generation license from NEPRA.
The Chief Minister assured the delegation that his Government will extend full cooperation to the company in completion of the project.
The Advisor to CM for Finance and Alternate Energy Syed Murad Ali Shah, Secretary Energy Wasif Abbas and Secretary to CM Rai Sikandar were also present on the occasion.
