Terming it a 'historic day' Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated on Wednesday the 24/7 Torkham Terminal at Pak-Afghan border.

Addressing the gathering, the premier said that 24/7 operationalisation of Torkham border will change the economic situation of the area and masses. The prime minister said that he wants peace in Afghanistan which will lead to Peshawar becoming the hub of trade.

"Peace in the region will enhance trade and more jobs will be created, also helping to revive the economy of the region especially the tribal belt," he said. He further said that since its trial, trade with Afghanistan had jumped by 50 percent.

The PM was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.The terminal was on trial basis since September 2 and will serve round the clock, seven days a week. The terminal has been opened to enhance bilateral trade and facilitate movement of pedestrians across the border.
