KARACHI: The launching ceremony of the first E-Commerce web portal for the Gems & Jewellery sector of Pakistan was held, here on Thursday 29th of November 2012 at PGJDC Head Office in Regent Plaza Hotel and Convention Centre, Karachi. Development of this E-Commerce portal is in continuation to the various effective marketing/branding initiatives which the Company has taken to facilitate the Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan.
The charter of PGJDC is to enhance the value chain productivity of Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan from mine to market. The Company aims to increase exports through facilitation, technology up-gradation, skill development and marketing/branding initiatives. With adequate support from Government of Pakistan, PGJDC is successfully realizing these objectives and providing required infrastructure for the Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan.
To develop B2B and B2C relationships between the Gem and Jewellery sector stakeholders of Pakistan and the world, Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company has taken the initiative of developing an E-Commerce web application, through which the Sector stakeholders will be able to establish electronic and virtual linkages globally. It will be serving the SME business communities related to Gems & Jewellery Industry across Pakistan by marketing their products and highlighting their services worldwide. The website visitors from all around the globe will be able to view and purchase one or numerous products from the vast product line displayed on the website by using an easy to use e-commerce facility.
During the ceremony, a detailed presentation along with website tour was given to the participants, in which, the features of the web portal were highlighted and the participants were enlightened about the use of this portal. The participants were briefed about how this portal will help them in introducing their products and services to the discerning targeted audience of international B2B and B2C Customers worldwide, ultimately leading towards rise in exports.
Chairperson PGJDC commended the management of PGJDC for taking such laudable initiatives to uplift the Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan. She said that this E-Commerce portal encompasses the efforts that the organization has made for the development of this sector, in such a small span of time. It has been designed to meet modern requirements and to accordingly facilitate people associated with the Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan. She hoped that PGJDC will continue such efforts and implement new and innovative ideas in order to raise the Industry to greater heights.
Chief Executive Officer PGJDC explained to the participants that how the market dynamics all around the world are changing rapidly and in order to keep up with the international markets, it is imperative that we also adopt the latest trends and techniques prevailing in the modern world today for marketing and promoting our products and services. Development of this E-Commerce portal is a positive step in the right direction, which is to upgrade the local Gems & Jewellery sector technologically.
The sector participants praised the efforts of PGJDC in uplifting the thriving Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan. They emphasized that such like efforts should be continued in the future too, so that the unique potential of Gems & Jewellery Industry of Pakistan could be highlighted in front of the international community to every extent possible.
