RAWALPINDI: Elaborate security arrangements have been made for 71st Independence Day to be celebrated on Tuesday as the Rawalpindi police, under their security plan, will deploy over 2500 cops in the district including around 500 in Murree which is thronged by thousands of visitors from across the country every year especially on the Independence Day.
In Rawalpindi city, 2,000 police officers will be deployed. They will be supported by members of the police Elite Force, women police officers and officials from the special branch.
Special police pickets have also been set up for snap checking and for the foolproof security in sensitive areas. Pickets have also been set up on the entry and exit points of the city. Police officers will also be deputed on parks and main spots in the city.
Police, Elite Force, Muhafiz Squads and Dolphin Force patrolling has been enhanced in several areas to net the criminals.
City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Abbas Ahsan has urged the citizens not to indulge in any illegal activity on Independence Day such as aerial firing. Murree has been divided into two sectors and special pickets have also been set up there.
As many as 500 police personnel will be performing their duties at the tourist resort.

Forces have started patrolling in different roads and streets. SP Sadar Division will supervise overall security arrangements in Murree.
