ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Association of Auto Parts and Accessories Manufacturers (PAAPAM) has reportedly divided into two groups - the new group with the name of Azzad Group has emerged within the Association.

In a letter dated 25 June 2020 to Director General (Regulator of Trade Organizations), Waheed Gul, Convener of Azzad Group noted the formation of "AZZAD GROUP" in Pakistan Association of Automotive Parts & Accessories Manufacturers.

Gul said, in his letter that as his group is contesting upcoming election, he has to collect related documents and obtain necessary information from the secretary general but it has come to his notice that the incumbent Chairman has tried to sideline him.

According to the letter, the secretary general has pivotal role in conducting free and fair Election and sideling him at this juncture is tantamount to sabotaging upcoming elections 2020.

"As per our knowledge, the chairman called secretary general at a private place on April 27, 2020 and asked him to resign which he refused," he added.

Gul said that he has requested the chairman to provide following documents to assess the situation but he has refused to do so: (i) show cause notice issued to the SG;(ii) his reply to the show cause notice;(iii) notice of managing committee meeting called for relieving the SG prior to April 27, 2020 and ;(iv) copy of resolution fabricated/generated after one month.

In May, 2020, PAAPAM removed the secretary general aged 72 and gave an advertisement in the newspapers.
