Bouncer injures star Australian opener

Australian vice-skipper David Warner retired hurt after being hit on side of the neck by a Josh Hazlewood bouncer while batting in intra-squad practice match in Darwin on Tuesday.

As per details, the 30-year-old Warner missed an attempted hook shot as was stuck, but immediately got to his feet and was able to leave the field unaided to be assessed by team medical staff.

The Aussies are playing a three-day practice match, between a David Warner XI and a Steven Smith XI, in Darwin, ahead of their Test tour of Bangladesh.

It is pertinent to mention here that, Phillip Hughes lost his life after a bouncer hit in the neck, during a Sheffield Shield match at the Sydney Cricket Ground, causing a vertebral artery dissection that led to a subarachnoid haemorrhage.
