ISLAMABAD: Legendary batsman Javed Miandad while welcoming the International Cricket Council's (ICC) to appoint Zaheer Abbas as President said the Asian Bradman could play his executive part in convincing international teams to tour Pakistan.
Zaheer assumed the role of the ICC President on day three of the ICC Annual Conference week in Barbados.
Talking to APP, Miandad said Zaheer definitely deserved to be the ICC president for what he has done for Pakistan cricket over the years.
"A cricketer can run the cricket affairs better then anyone else," he said.
Miandad said Zaheer should convince the ICC and other international teams to tour Pakistan.
"The Zimbabwe team just visited here and they took a positive message from here which was Pakistan is a safe and sport loving country," he said adding now many teams would be interested to tour here but it is just a matter of convincing them and a personality like Zaheer can definitely do this.
Speaking about how to improve the merit of cricket in the country, he said the PCB should allot some annual budget they get from the ICC to the regions and ask them to improve cricket at their sides.
"This way the regions will be held accountable for producing quality players and will also stand questionable," he said.
Miandad said that he is always available for improving cricket in Pakistan.
"I had earlier also given a book to the PCB for tips on improving cricket," he said adding selectors needed to go to see the domestic cricket in order to dig out the talented players.
