City administration to provide facilities to disabled for better mobility: Commissioner
KARACHI: The city administration would make all out efforts to provide facilities to the disabled people for better mobility.
This was stated by the Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui while talking to the representatives of Disabled Welfare Association (DWA) during his visit to "Mobility Workshop", established by the Association here on Thursday.
He said it is the collective responsibility of the government as well as the society to provide opportunities to disabled persons for their better life.
"I believe the disabled persons in our society are equally talented and their talents can be utilised for the progress of society", he added.
He further said it is their right to get an opportunity according to their skill and talent.
President of the DWA Javed Rais briefed the Commissioner about the project of Mobility Workshop, established to facilitate the disabled people to move around comfortably and to provide them the opportunities to take part in different sports as well.
He said that motor bikes, try cycles and chairs have been developed according to the needs of the disabled persons while training is also being imparted to the disabled persons to use motor bikes, try cycles and wheel chairs at the workshop.
Introducing the trainers and designers to the Commissioner, he said the trainers have got training in Japan and are fully capable to train disabled persons to use vehicles designed specially for them.
