imageISLAMABAD: Former Test Cricketer Sarfraz Nawaz while praising Amad Butt and Zafar Gohar for pulling off a stunning victory over England in the semi- final of the Under-19 World Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium said he is positive for Pakistan's chances of winning the mega event.

Pakistan beat England by 3 wickets in the semi-final on Monday. Chasing a target of 205, Pakistan were 142 for 7 in 36.5 overs but some fine batting and a 63-run partnership by all-rounders Amad Butt (26) and Zafar Gohar (37) dragged the two-time champions through to the final of the mega event.

Talking to APP, Sarfraz said he was very impressed with the way these youngsters batted at such a curial time which was the need of the hour. "The dropped catch when the fielder palmed the ball over the long-off boundary for six was the match winning moment for Pakistan. If the catch had been held England would have had the upper hand at the end of the overs," he said.

Sarfraz said our top order batsmen should play sensibly in the final as both teams Australia or South Africa whoever makes it against Pakistan are both tough teams.

Pakistan remains the only country to have won the tournament back-to-back. Khalid Latif led Pakistan to the title in 2004 in Bangladesh, while Sarfraz Ahmed's boys retained the crown when the event was staged in Sri Lanka in 2006.

Sounding confident for the junior team's chances, Sarfraz said the U19 CWC is a very important event as every youngster strives hard to step into professional cricket by performing well in this event," he said.

Sarfraz said young players should take this tournament as a learning opportunity where they compete with players from other Test-playing nations.
