COLOMBO: Pakistan's new High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Maj. Gen. Qasim Qureshi (R), presented his credentials to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at the Temple Trees in Colombo on Wednesday.
Major General Qasim Qureshi (R) had arrived in Colombo earlier this month. He joined Pakistan Army in November 1972, and was commissioned in October 1974. He was retired from Pakistan Army's active service in October 2009.
Maj Gen Qasim Qureshi (R) has held various important assignments during his military career.
Since retirement he has been involved in various Track 2 initiatives prior to joining his present assignment.
The newly appointed High Commissioner is a highly decorated officer having numerous honours and awards to his credit including "Hilal-i-Imtiaz (Military)" and "Sitara-i-Esaar".
