10 controversial personalities of 2011

It may be safe to say that the year 2011 was full of events of the amorous kind.

The following are personalities of the world that made the headlines and were a subject of awe:

1. Julian Assange came into the limelight in 2010 when he began leaking confidential American diplomatic cables on his website "WikiLeaks" in 2010. He came under allegations of sexual assault with a European arrest warrant to extradite him to Sweden. He is still on conditional bail.

2. California Governor "Terminator" Arnold Schwarzenegger's 25-year-old marriage to former television journalist and niece of President John F. Kennedy, Maria Shriver with whom he had four kids, was intact till news of his fathering a son for 14 years with his housekeeper Mildred Patricia Baena surfaced. That led to a divorce followed by news of other scandals.

3. One of Italy's longest serving prime ministers, Silvio Berlusconi, 75, has become famous for debauchery. Former call girl Nadia Macri told the media about how he would select young girls for group sex after dinner. Berlusconi is under investigation for paying for sex with a 17-year-old prostitute Karima El Mahroug, a.k.a Ruby Rubacuori.

4. Known for her outrageous fashion and eclectic musical style, Lady Gaga was big on bizarre public appearances. She is rumoured to have had a sex change outside of creating a frenzy with her hit single "Marry the night" where she is seen bathing nude in a tub of milk and breakfast cereals.

5. The controversial Veena Malik came into the limelight say that her ex-boyfriend cricketer Muhammad Asif, with whom she was rumoured to be secretly married, had connections with bookies. That controversy landed her an entry in Bigg Boss Season 4 where she was found mostly sneaking into co-inmate Ashmit Patel's blanket or seductively talking to the mirror, stirring further controversy. After Bigg Boss, Veena decided to do something more conservative like the marriage reality show "Swayamvar". Just then her nude pictures with an ISI tattoo on her arm surfaced on the cover of FHM India magazine. Veena vehemently denied doing a nude photo shoot.

6. Managing director of International Monetary Fund (IMF), 62-year-old Dominique Strauss-Kahn had everything until his stay at a New York hotel in May 2011. He was accused of sexually assaulting hotel maid Nafissatou Diallo. He not only lost his job but also had skeletons tumbling out of his closet in the form of a series of sex scandals. Now he talks about how "uninhibited sex life" cost him his career.

7. Armenian-American socialite-businesswoman-model-reality TV star Kim Kardashian with her large assets and scandalous sex tape with ex-boyfriend, R&B singer Ray J is among Hollywood's highest paid reality TV stars. Her wedding, aired live, to basketball star Kris Humphries survived 72 days before it was called off and divorce filed. Kardashian is believed to have made a million bucks just from staging her wedding.

8. After three marriages and five children, Charlie Sheen never made his philandering ways a secret, including his sharing the house with his doting "goddesses", a former nanny and a porn film actress. Everyone said he went rouge, but the affect he had on his audience continued to be orgasmic. How else would the ranking of 'Two And A Half Men', one of TVs most popular sitcoms, take a beating after Sheen got booted out. The funny and sexy Ashton Kutcher may have taken his place in the series, but the damage done was irrevocable.

9. The 85-year-old twice married owner of Playboy magazine, Hugh Hefner has babies from his past marriages and was all set to try his luck the third time with sexy 20-year-old blonde Playmate, Crystal Harris. It seemed that it would last this time. But five days later the bride-to-be called off the wedding. Hefner has since moved on to newer girls, though not before splashing a semi-nude Harris on the cover of Playboy with a large red sticker reading, 'Runaway Bride In This Issue'!

10. Self-proclaimed model and cricket fan, Poonam Pandey offered to strip naked if India won the cricket World Cup 2011. But she conveniently turned her phones off when India won the World Cup trpohy. Lately, she is on a nudity overdrive restricted to her Twitter followers.
