Magsi--QUETTA: Governor Balochistan Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has urged gas and oil exploration firms to play their role for socio-economic development of local people of Balochistan.

According to a handout issued here on Tuesday, Managing Director Mari Gas Company Lt-Gen. (retd) Raza Muhammad Khan and Brig. (retd) Saleem met with him at Governor House.

Talking to them, he said that the companies working in gas and oil exploration and other mines and minerals related projects will have to provide technical training to local people and play their due role in social and economic development of the areas where they were working.

He congratulated the Mari Gas Company officials for their efforts to explore natural gas in Khost, Harnai, Zarghoon Gharawar and Hana areas of Ziarat district and hoped that work to extract natural gas from these areas would be completed soon.

The Governor Magsi said that gas supply from these areas would cater need of the provincial capital Quetta and other areas.

He urged the gas and oil exploration companies to share the financial benefits of the projects with local people and allocate funds for the social and economic uplift of the areas, from where gas, oil and other mines and minerals were being extracted.

He assured to extend his all out collaboration for the development and mines and mineral sector besides ensuring environmental protection.
