Supreme-Court-of-PakistanISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan has disposed off 447 cases during one week, whereas 386 new cases have been instituted during the period from Saturday to Friday.

 

The backlog in the apex Court on February 16 was 19257 cases as 386 new cases were instituted during the period of one week,the progressive total of pending cases on February 22 came to 19643 cases, said a news release here.

 

Out of these, 447 cases were disposed of during the period from Monday (February 18) to Friday (February 22). The backlog on February 22 remains 19196 cases.

 

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry constituted various Benches at the principal seat, Islamabad to expedite the case hearings and clear the backlog.
