Facebook is always busy introducing products and services day in day out, all this hassle is to improve the user experience. However, not every change is good and sometimes it is not required.
This seems to be the case with Facebook latest adventure with sound and video as the social network is starting to trial autoplaying videos with sound on.
Currently in the testing phase users in the test can turn off the sound on individual videos or navigate their way to Facebook’s settings page and turn the sound off for all videos.
However, if implemented the feature could turn out embarrassing for the user to say the least, reported The Next Web. For example, you are in a meeting, class or any sort of formal arrangement, the last thing you want is to be checking Facebook, and suddenly you have your phone shouting an advert, simply because you were scrolling through a video.
As per Recode, Facebook tests for the moment are limited to a small number of Australian Facebook users who access the social network on their phones.
“We're running a small test in News Feed where people can choose whether they want to watch videos with sound on from the start. For people in this test who do not want sound to play, they can switch it off in Settings or directly on the video itself. This is one of several tests we're running as we work to improve the video experience for people on Facebook,” stated Facebook in a statement.
However, if the autoplaying videos and sound feature is implemented, it would mark a major change in Facebook video strategy.
