imageThe world largest search engine Google has launched ‘Gboard’ the much rumored keyboard, but not for Android as normally expected but for Apple’s iOS.

According to Google blog, the new app for iPhone users will allow you to search and send information including GIFs, emojis and more, right through your keyboard.

“Say you’re texting with a friend about tomorrow’s lunch plans. They ask you for the address. Until now it’s worked like this: You leave your texting app. Open Search. Find the restaurant. Copy the address. Switch back to your texts. Paste the address into a message. And finally, hit send,” said Google.

“With Gboard, you can search and send all kinds of things—restaurant info, flight times, news articles—right from your keyboard. Anything you’d search on Google, you can search with Gboard, “added Google.

The search results would appear as cards with important information i.e. phone numbers, ratings etc which would appear at front and center. Using the feature with one tap, you can send the information to your friend while the conversation is going on.

As per TechCrunch, Gboard also works as a regular keyboard Gboard, i.e. supports swiping, just like the Google Keyboard on Android.

“We wanted to bring the best of Google to Gboard, so you’ll see Maps, Translate, image and video search, News and others,” says Rajan Patel, the head of the product team that developed Gboard. “Initially, Gboard will not surface any information specific to you,” he added, hinting that a personalized keyboard is in the works for the future.
