imageThe age of space exploration started decades back, however, there is a growing interest among the masses since the Mars rovers made their landing in 2003.

The scientists believe that humans would inhabit the red planet, as soon as the year 3000, so there is little time for preparation right!

Fortunately, surviving on Mars is no big deal, in fact one could learn life saving techniques in matters of hours, thanks to scientists at Australia’s Monash University.

The university offers you with free online course in survival on the red planet, and after just few sessions applicants will have the necessary skills to provide themselves with water, food and oxygen on the planet, reported Mashable.

The course called "How to Survive on Mars: The Science Behind Human Exploration of Mars" is developed by astrophysicist Jasmina Lazendic-Galloway and Monash University chemistry professor Tina Overton.

The idea behind the course emerged from Andy Weir's bestselling novel, The Martian, which was later made into film, spilled out Lazendic-Galloway."What Tina and I liked was obviously The Martian book," she said.

"We liked that the scientists were treated as problem solvers. Not like other space films with egos and aliens everywhere…This story actually showed what science is about — not just boring facts and formulas but real problem solving skills."

Whereas, beside the inspirational novel there is also a logical explanation for the course, reported BBC."Mars is the only planet in the solar system where humans could possibly live, which is why it holds such fascination for us,” said Tina Overton.

"But sustaining our lives there is going to be a real challenge."
