Akshay Kumar’s upcoming movie ‘Baby’ which largely focuses on terrorism issues and also features one of a Pakistani actor as a prime antagonist, has been banned in Pakistan.
According to local media reports, a representative of the film’s distributor, Everready Pictures informed that the film has been banned in Pakistan. “Censor boards in Islamabad and Karachi have decided to ban the film because it portrays a negative image of Muslims and the negative characters in the film also have Muslim names. CDs and DVDs of the film have also been banned in Islamabad. The company has taken a similar stance on this issue and will not go-ahead with its release.”
The movie has been banned in Pakistan as it shows Muslim community in a bad light. The characters used in the movie also represent Muslim community.
Fakhr-e-Alam, who is the Chairman of the Censor Board also took to Twitter to share his views about the board’s decision. He tweeted, “Just censored the film ‘Baby’. A poor propaganda film basically saying all Muslims are terrorists & Pakistan harbors them. Disappointed! Banned it”.
In a previous article, director of the movie Neeraj Panday claimed that the movie doesn’t hurt Muslim sentiments nor it has been made on any specific nation.
