Indus-River 400ISLAMABAD: The Federal Flood Commission (FFC) on Monday said that presently, all main rivers Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej are flowing normal except Kabul river, which was in low flood at Warsak and medium flood at Nowshera.

According to daily FFC report, The actual river flows and reservoir elevations indicates that Tarbela and Mangla Dams are at elevations of 1459.50 feet and 1148.35 feet respectively, which are 90.50 feet and 93.65 feet below their respective Maximum Conservation Levels of 1550.00 feet and 1242.00 feet.

The combined live storage position of Tarbela, Chashma and Mangla reservoirs is 4.117 MAF as compared to last year's 6.223 MAF.

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, yesterday's trough of Westerly Wave over Northern parts of Afghanistan today lies over Northeastern Afghanistan and adjoining Pakistan.

Seasonal Low lies over Northwestern Balochistan. Moist current from Arabian Sea is penetrating into upper parts of the country upto 4000 feet.

Yesterday's Monsoon Low over eastern parts of Madhya Pradesh (India) has moved Northwestwards and today lies over Northeastern Madhya Pradesh (India).

The Flood Forecasting Division (FFD) predicted scattered thunderstorm/rain with isolated heavy falls over Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir during the next 24 hours.

Scattered thundershowers may also occur over Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala, Lahore and Bahawalpur Divisions, including upper catchments of Rivers Indus, Jhelum & Chenab, besides fairly widespread thunderstorm/rain over upper catchments of Rivers Ravi & Sutlej during the same period.

Significant rainfall events reported during the past 24 hours include; Lahore (Upper Mall = 25 mm, Airport = 16 mm and Misri Shah = 12 mm).
