LAHORE: A petition has been filed before the Lahore High Court against media trial of pending cases including Panama case.

Amjad Farooq Bismil Advocate filed the petition through his counsel, AK Dogar, submitting that the law did not allow comments on pending cases in the courts but the media was not paying any heed to the law.

Referring to heated media debates on Panama Papers case, he contended that the entire country was in grip of prejudicial publicity for more than a year.

He said that it was responsibility of the federation and Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) to ensure restrictions on discussions to sub-judice cases. He pleaded with the court to issue directives for the purpose and also restrain TV channels and print media from continuing prejudicial publicity about a case pending in any court.
