LONDON: Title-holders India lost two star batsmen in Rohit Sharma and captain Virat Kohli as Pakistan's Mohammad Amir reduced them to six for two inside three overs during the Champions Trophy final at the Oval on Sunday.
Sharma, the tournament's second-top scorer behind opening partner Shikhar Dhawan, fell for a three-ball duck when left-arm paceman Amir, having bowled a couple of outswingers, had him lbw with an inswinger.
It appeared India, chasing 339 to win, had had a lucky break when Kohli, the world's leading one-day international batsman, was dropped on five by first slip Azhar Ali off Amir.
But Amir's very next ball saw Kohli, aiming legside, get a leading edge to point where Shadab Khan made no mistake with the catch.
Amir, who missed Pakistan's semi-final win over England with a back spasm, had taken two wickets for four runs in eight balls and India were six for two.
Earlier, left-handed opener Fakhar Zaman's 114, his maiden ODI hundred, was the centrepiece of Pakistan's 338 for four after Kohli won the toss and fielded.
