NA body for an inquiry into land acquisition of Swat University
ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Federal Education and Professional Training on Wednesday recommended an inquiry into the land acquisition and awarding of contract without prior designing of building of Swat University.
The meeting was held here at Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training under the chairmanship of MNA Col. (R) Dr. Amirullah Marwat.
The members of the committee MNAs including Asiya Naz Tanoli, Rida Khan, Phyllis Azeem, Surraiya Asghar, Surraiya Jatoi, Dr. Shazia Sobia, Ms. Shahida Rehmani, Dr. Imran Khattak and Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai also attended the meeting.
Chairman of the Committee said that inquiry should be conducted by HEC and submit the report within two weeks to the Standing Committee.
"Later, the committee will decide either to recommend the matter to the investigation agencies or clear the issue," he said.
The committee recommended corrections in some of the sections of "The Apprenticeship Bill, 2017" (Government Bill).
The committee also decided to consider "The Apprenticeship Bill, 2017" (Government Bill) in its next meeting.
The committee was also briefed regarding the scholarship awarded under Indigenous 5,000 Ph.D fellowship programme (Department of Botany Batch/ Phase-V, 2005-2009 by Higher Education Commission (HEC).
Chairman Amirullah Marwat said that the committee would always support good work, adding that it is our shared responsibility to work for the progress and prosperity of the country. The committee directed HEC to strengthen Research work.
The committee proposed HEC to give target to the Ph.D students for research in various subjects.
The meeting was also attended by Senior officials of Ministry, HEC and Swat University.
