shahbazLAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday said Pakistan would become a great country because the current government was working with hard work, speed, transparently and tirelessly.

Addressing the inaugural ceremony of e-Rozgaar programme and first freelancing convention at Arfa Kareem Software Technology Park, he said a big portion of the population was consisted on the youth as they were their asset and the destination of the country couldn't be changed without economic empowerment of the youth. He added the government had started various programmes for development and economic empowerment of the youth.

The chief minister also inaugurated the e-Rozgaar training program at the Irfa Kareem Software Technology Park. Under this program 40 e-Rozgaar centres have been set up at 36 districts where the youngsters will be given three-month training so that they could earn a respectable living through online jobs.

The CM said he believed that 40 centres were very insufficient and they had to set up such four million centres so that more and more students could be made financially empowered.

The chief minister said young boys and girls were playing vital role in the development of the country after getting IT education and they also shared burden of their families. To achieve this objective, he said, the government was responsible for proving suitable environment and investment and the Punjab government was taking exemplary measures in this regard and the e-Rozgaar program and Khadam-e-Punjab Self-employment were parts of his vision.

He said Vice Chancellor Information Technology University Dr. Umer Saif laid the foundation of the e-Rozgaar programme about three years ago and thousands of the youth were doing respectable jobs after getting training from these centres.

He congratulated Dr Umer Saif and his team and he believed this programme was the need of the hour and Pakistan could move forward through this programme.

He added the Punjab government laid the foundation of the Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF) of Rs 2 billion in 2008 and now its volume had been enhanced to Rs 20 billion and millions of boy and girl students were getting education from the financial aid of the programme.

He said thousands of students had become doctors and engineers and getting education in foreign education institutions after getting financial aid from this scholarship.

The chief minister said under the Khadam-e-Punjab Self Employment Program interest-free loans were being provided to the youth and nine lakh boys and girls were financially independent now through this programme.

He said when the PML-N came to power in 2013 the country had plunged into darkness, people were becoming jobless and losing their businesses and the people had become mentally sick due to load-shedding. He added hardwork of the government to produce electricity was bearing fruit and God willing by the end of this year or the start of the next year darkness due to load-shedding would eliminate.

"Sufficient electricity will be available for industry, livestock, agriculture and programmes like e-Rozgaar and Pakistan will not only be self-sufficient in electricity but if Indian needed electricity then Pakistan will be able to provide surplus electricity to India." he added.

Shehbaz Sharif said the current government under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif had started mega projects transparently that had no precedence in the past and these projects were heading toward completion. He said the first phase of the 1200MW Bhikki power plant would be completed in two weeks that would produce 800MW electricity.

Addressing the ceremony, Chairman Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) Dr Umer Saif said 60 per cent population of Pakistan was consisted of the youth which was the harbinger of the bright future of the country. He said e- Rozgaar program had been started as per vision of CM Shehbaz Sharif that would provide jobs to the youth.

Provincial Ministers Syed Raza Ali Gillani and Jehangir Khanzada also addressed the ceremony and highlighted the importance of e-Rozgaar programme.
