Indian ministers, who said groping at New Year celebrations in Bangalore was caused by women dressing like Westerners, have caused outrage. Along with the people of India, Bollywood film fraternity has raised their voice on the shameful incident and the statement issued by the Indian politicians.
Few Indian politicians statements have really disappointed Indian people as they put the blame on girls and not on the molesters. Karnataka State Home Minister G Parameshwara blamed young people for copying the Westerners, not only in their mindset, but even in their dressing. These kinds of things do happen, he said.
Abu Azmi, the (Samajwadi Party) MLA said, It was bound to happen. Women call nudity fashion. They were wearing short dresses. It won't be right for my sister or daughter to go out at night without male members of the family.
Indian politicians added fuel to the fire which became the reason for massive outrage.
Reacting to the incident, actor Aamir Khan said, What happened in Bangalore was very sad. We all are saddened and feel ashamed when something like this happens in our country. Every state government should take a step for this. In todays age, people who misbehave with girls think nothing will happen to us. If and when we come across such cases, we should ensure that the perpetrators are behind bars within 2-3 months. If this happens in every case, you will see a change. There will be fear among people, which is a very important thing, Indian media reported.
