imageKARACHI: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chapter amir Hafiz Naeem here Thursday said the Pakistan Peoples Party Parliamentrain (PPPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were responsible for persisting water crisis in Karachi, but ironically these both parties are shedding the crocodile tears over the water shortage created due to their wrong policies.

He was addressing a protest demo, organized by JI District East in Gulistan e Jauhar against the water shortage.

He regretted that two big parties, PPPP and MQM had left the Karachiites to the mercy of tanker mafia.

They said these parties themselves were responsible for water shortage in the city, but instead of confessing their shortcoming they are now shedding crocodile tears.

He said Karachiites have been braving immense problems due to the wrong policies of PPPP and MQM regarding tackling the water supply issue of the metropolis.

On the occasion, JI East amir Muhammad Yunus Barai warned to hold protest demo in front of the Sindh Assembly and offices of Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB). Moreover, JI Karachi chapter announced to launch a series of protest demonstrations over water persisting crisis at 50 locations of the city.

JI Karachi amir Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman in a press conference at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on Thursday said that his party held first of its protest demonstrations at Jauhar Morr on Thursday, while other protests would be held at Dawood Chowrangi, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Korangi and other locations.

He demanded immediate work on K-4 project, cancelling political recruitments in government departments and ensuring uninterrupted power and water supply during Ramadan.

He said that the former Karachi mayor Niamatullah Khan had got compelted the feasibility of K-4 project during his tenure and the project was scheduled to be completed in 2012; however, due to delaying tactics of bureaucracy work on it is yet to be started.

He said that 1250mn gallons per day water was needed by the people of Karachi but only 680million gallon per day is being supplied to them.
