imageQUETTA: Chief Minister Balochistan, Dr Abdul Malik has warned that bid to roll back 18th constitutional amendment would be opposed as any such move would not only create fuss in the provinces but could threaten the federation as well.

He was addressing a seminar on '18th Amendment's transition Management: Lesson learned and way forward, organized by the UNDP in collaboration with the government of Balochistan here at Boys Scouts on Wednesday.

Political parties have rendered sacrifices to achieve the goal of decentralization of power and provincial autonomy through the 18th amendment in the constitution of Pakistan, he said and feared that further delay in the implementation would weaken federation.

CM said the provincial autonomy ensured in the 18 amendment has empowered provinces to put their province on the road to prosperity.

He noted that under the article 172 of constitution, federal government and provincial governments would be the signatory of any exploration of mines and minerals.

Federal government is agreed on granting 50 percent share in the oil and gas exploration as per 18th amendment and there would no unilateral agreement anymore in this connection, he stressed.

Lauding the support of incumbent federal government of PML-N, he said all issues faced by Balochistan were being settled amicably.

Expressing dissatisfaction over the ill-attitude of bureaucracy, he said that without their assistance, no development could take place in Balochistan.

I can't force every officer to discharge 8 hours duty, but it would be better for them to realize their responsibility and serve people with dignity.

Making comparison with the previous government, he stressed that people had complaints about the absence of CM in the province and now when I am available from 9am to 10 pm, they are not giving credit to the current government for its sincerity and seriousness.

Earlier, Balochistan Minister Hamid Achakzai also spoke. Secretaries of all line departments were also present.
