ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet on Wednesday unanimously approved the draft 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill, for presentation in the Parliament.

 

The federal cabinet gave the approval in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani here at the PM Secretariat.

The Prime Minister termed the consensus evolved on the Draft Bill as yet another "historic achievement" and congratulated the Chairman and the members of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms.

The Prime Minister appreciated the contributions of all members of the Parliamentary Committee particularly the Chairman for working tirelessly with patience, commitment and zeal.

Earlier, Mian Raza Rabbani, Advisor to the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms briefed the Cabinet about the salient features of the Draft 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill and the proceedings of the Parliamentary Committee.

He read out the 19th Constitutional Amendment Bill clause by clause which were unanimously approved by the Cabinet.
