Lil wayneLOS ANGELES: Hip hop star Lil Wayne turned 30 on Thursday to news that he's overtaken Elvis Presley for the number of times he's popped up on Billboard's Hot 100 pop music chart.

Lil Wayne appeared on the closely-watched chart for the 109th time as a featured artist on "Celebration" by West Coast rapper Game, which entered at number 82, the music industry weekly said.

Presley, who died 35 years ago, has appeared 108 times -- although Billboard noted that some of his earliest hits, like "Heartbreak Hotel," "Don't Be Cruel" and "Hound Dog," pre-dated the inception of the Hot 100 in 1958.

Lil Wayne still has far to go, however, before he beats the cast of the Fox musical sitcom "Glee" -- they still lead the pack for the number of Top 100 appearances at 204.

And Presley fans can rest easy with the knowledge that only 17 of Lil Wayne's Hot 100 songs reached the dizzying heights of the top 10 -- compared to 25 for the King of Rock 'n' Roll.

Lil Wayne, a skateboard fanatic, has been in his native New Orleans this week for the opening of a new skate park in the Lower Ninth Ward, which was hard-hit by Hurricane Katrina seven years ago, the NOLA.com website reported.
