Kaira-qamar 404ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira Monday said consultations were being held to decide about writing letter to the Swiss authorities for reopening the alleged money laundering case against the president.

Talking to a private TV channel, he said the government was in consultation with prime minister's lawyers and its allied parties to finalize its stance regarding the case.

He said the government had always respected the judiciary, and it had moved ahead in line with court's directives given in the past.

He said now the people were talking about other issues including ending corruption from society, caretaker set up and holding of fair and free elections.

Thus these issues should also be discussed, he said adding, the media needed to play its due role by making environment conducive for holding the next general election in a free, fair and transparent manner.

He was of the opinion the media should dispel the impression created by certain quarters that there was a confrontation between the court and the government.

"We have always accepted the court's decision that disqualified our prime minister and the government did not file an appeal against the verdict," the minister said.

Regarding the sacrilegious film, the information Minister said not only the government but all parties and people of all religions had condemned it.

He said the government had strongly condemned the film, adding the foreign office had also issued condemnation and the National Assembly has passed a resolution condemning the anti-Islam film, which has invoked protest worldwide.
