jamaica2KARACHI: Jamaican Sprinter Usain Bolt's stunning performances in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m relay at the London Olympics have earned him stupendous commendation and a celebrity standing.

Now Jamaica expects the exhilarating Olympic success of the world's fastest sprinter will improve its image and aid in attracting more foreign tourists to the scenic Caribbean country.

“Interest that has already been created by our sprint legends throughout the years has come to a crescendo with Usain Bolt’s unique defense of the titles,” Wykeham McNeill, Minister of Tourism told a media website. “The impact of his sprinting will have an effect on the island for many years to come and will help Jamaica attract more and more sports travel tourists.”

25-year old Bolt, was in promoting national tourism diffusion in Jamaica earlier to as he featured in three promotional videos in 2010.

Almost 1,922,000 foreign tourists visited the island nation in 2010, according to World Bank data.

Jamaica isn't the only Caribbean island hoping for an Olympic afterglow leading into increased tourism.
